Racing cars have always had sensors to measure every detail of the inner workings from a car. From engine to internal G forces, a sensor has to work correctly in order to quantify well the data that it measures.
Using strain sensitive materials in combination with with the latest 3d printing technologies, a high preforming sensor case was adapted to the IDR developed by AIM. This sensors measures every detail of what happens in a car crash to understand what happens in the inside of the cockpit and what the driver goes through in a crash.
Using complex geometries, computational tools and data from testing, the Aim Sensor case was designed to act as a low pass filter, protect the sensor from external impacts and enhance the functionality of the IDR.
